On February 17, 2025, the Otaru Development and Construction Department of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism announced that the 3.3km section between Yoichi IC and Niki IC on Shiribeshido will open at 4pm on Sunday, March 23. Shiribeshido is a high-standard road that runs south from the Otaru JCT on the Sassaru Expressway along the Oshamanbe-Otaru route. It will be extended south by one section from Yoichi IC, which opened in December 2018.
